The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Over Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Required Changes

A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
